Recycling tyres reduces pollution and energy consumption substantially and there are several ways of re-use for these.
Our main 3 methods of tyre recycling are:
- Re-tread – Wherever possible, the number one form of recycling is re-use. Many tyres that we have collected can be re-used directly on vehicles again simply by re-treading them and making them suitable for the road. These add quite a substantial shelf life to their original purpose.
- Grinding tyres for crumb rubber – This is the next best option as the crumb rubber is then used for other various products and can be recycled again and again
- Tyre chipping – Another excellent option. Here the tyres are frozen, chipped and then the chipped rubber is re-used for support and cushioning in children’s playgrounds and activity area’s.
