Fluorescent Tube Recycling
Under the WEEE and ROHS directives, it is essential that all fluorescent tubes be recycled correctly and stored in a safe and secure manner.
They contain hazardous materials in the form of Phosphor powder and mercury.
Just one smashed tube if left near a water source can contaminate and pollute up to 30,000 litres and render drinking water dangerous to health.
We recommend that all fluorescent tubes be recycled and don’t risk contaminating any other waste stream by mixing these in. For example, a general rubbish container that would usually go for landfill would be deemed all hazardous waste should a smashed tube be found mixed in.
